The Scotch Pie Club has launched its World Scotch Pie Championships 2013, with a new category for bakers to enter this year.

The 14th World Scotch Pie Championships, supported by Scottish Bakers and the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders, is looking for bakers to submit their best sausage rolls, bridies and speciality savouries into the international competition.

This year sees the introduction of a new category for entrants, who can compete for the best pie available for supporters to buy at a Scottish football club. Judging of this category will also take place on 27 November, with the final result announced on 4 December.

Alan Stuart, competition founder, said: “We are delighted to be launching the 14th World Scotch Pie Championships. We have a huge number of hard-working butchers and bakers who deserve recognition for delivering great products day in, day out. I am looking forward to sampling some of the best products on the market today and to seeing who the judges pick out as having produced something I know will be world-class.”

Presentation of prizes will take place on 9 January 2013 at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline.

Entry forms are due in by 19 November and products should be delivered to the Carnegie Conference Centre, Halbeath Road, Dunfermline, KY11 8DY between 9am and 11.30am on 27 November 2012.
