Oven supplier Unox UK has been certified as a ‘Great Place To Work’ following an employee survey.
The Great Place To Work certification scheme is designed to recognise workplaces that ‘go above and beyond to positively enhance the employee experience – from equal development opportunities and financial stability to fair leadership structures and workplace pride’.
An anonymous Trust Index Survey is used to measure the employee experience based on the company’s culture and overall working environment.
The Unox UK survey found that 83% of the company’s employees say it is a great place to work, compared to the average of 54% at a typical UK-based firm. Every member of staff felt they were treated fairly, that it was a safe place to work, and that the management trusted them to do a good job.
“We are proud to be officially recognised as a Great Place To Work 2024 by our employees,” said Unox UK managing director Scott Duncan, who described the business as a people-first company that works to evolve its corporate culture to create and maintain a positive and progressive working environment.
“Our success is steered by our people – at all levels, across every department – so it’s vital that we provide equal opportunities for development, establish a culture of two-way communication, and promote a healthy work-life balance, to recruit and retain the best talent within our industry.”
Unox subsidiaries in the US, Australia, Mexico and Malaysia, as well as the company’s headquarters in Italy, have also been certified as a Great Place To Work.
Cornish Bakery and Gail’s Bakery were last month recognised as among the top UK companies to work for in 2023 following surveys by employee engagement specialist Best Companies. Gail’s was listed as number 22 of the UK’s 25 Best Big Companies to work for (which covers firms with more than 2,000 employees) while independent chain Cornish Bakery came in at number 101 on the large companies list (covering firms with 200 to 1,999 employees).
