Cake artist Lara Mason has unveiled a life-size cake of a baking fan who won a competition set by Lyle’s Golden Syrup.
Emma Belben of South Petherton, Somerset, was gifted her baked doppelganger ahead of the final of the Great British Bake Off which airs tomorrow (30 October).
“I couldn’t believe my luck when I found out I’d won the opportunity to have a cake made of myself. I’ll be watching the final this week with a slice of my face in hand – how surreal,” Belben said.
The bust took six days to create and weighs in at a whopping 12kgs. The following ingredients went into making it:
- 1.5kgs of Lyle’s Golden Syrup
- 40 eggs
- 2kgs of flour
- 1kg Tate & Lyle sugar
- 2kgs Tate & Lyle icing sugar
Mason’s former cake creations include a life-size sculpture of royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Harry Potter, television presenter Paul O’Grady and actor Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka.
