Cooplands has partnered with Nisa to supply Yorkshire-made baked goods including loaves, buns, and cakes to its stores.
The partnership will initially see the Scarborough-headquartered bakery deliver products to Nisa’s store in Ripon, Yorkshire, before expanding to more sites in the future.
The full list of items being supplied to Nisa is: cheese straws, bread rolls, loaves, Parkin biscuits, Melting Moments biscuits, ginger squares, iced buns, teacakes, hot cross buns, Easter bunny biscuits, cornflake nests, sultana scones, cheese scones, cream scones, lemon loaf cake, triple chocolate muffins, cream doughnuts, and strawberry tarts.
“We are thrilled to be launching in our first Nisa Local as we continue to grow our brand into new locations, and we look forward to being able to expand into more Nisa shops in the near future,” said Andrew Hesketh, head of brand development at Cooplands Bakery.
Cooplands added that it would be looking to increase its visibility in Nisa stores by providing them with point of sale in the future.
The bakery, which is owned by forecourt operator EG Group following its acquisition in late 2021, has partnered with other retailers in the past. In June 2021, it announced a collaboration with independent supermarket Proudfoot followed by one with Tesco which saw it trial concessions in three of the retailer’s stores, although this partnership was ended around a year later.
As a vertically integrated company, Cooplands manufactures baked goods at its sites in Scarborough and Durham before delivering them to its estate of 180 shops across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and the Northeast, as well as wholesale clients including Nisa. Until July last year, the business also operated a production facility in Hull, but this was closed along with several shops to better position it for long-term and sustainable growth.
Cooplands was founded in 1885 as a pork pie producer and has evolved over the years to one of the largest bakery chains in Britain.
