TV and radio star Alexander Armstrong is to host the Baking Industry Awards 2020.
Armstong is an actor, writer, singer, and one of the most accomplished, recognisable hosts in the country.
He is one half of Armstrong & Miller, writing and starring in the comedy sketch show with fellow actor and university friend, Ben Miller. He is also the co-host of the popular quiz Pointless, has presented Have I Got News For You more times than any other guest host, and is a presenter on Classic FM.
He has also appeared in Saxondale with Steve Coogan, and provided the voice for Dangermouse in the return of the children’s favourite.
Armstrong has chaired Channel 4’s The Best of the Worst, and Don’t Call Me Stupid. He’s explored the history of Naples, Florence and Venice in Italy’s Invisible Cities, and frequently pops up on Radio 4. He has also turned his hand to singing, producing two albums of popular classics and taking them on tour with a live orchestra, as well as a recording of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf.
He will present 2020’s Baking Industry Awards, which celebrate the best the sector has to offer, in an online ceremony on Wednesday 20 January at 18:30. Tune in via BritishBaker.co.uk.
The winners will be revealed from a shortlist of 36 finalists in 12 categories, selected from hundreds of entries by an expert panel of judges.
A special award will also be presented for Outstanding Contribution to the Baking Industry, chosen from nominations supplied by British Baker readers.
