Flatbread and baklawa supplier Dina Foods has increased measures to protect its staff from Covid-19, including taking everyone’s temperature on entry to the premises daily.
The company, based in Park Royal, London, added that only crucial visitors from contractors were allowed, and a heightened programme of return-to-work controls had been implemented. Non-operational staff were also working from home to reduce the number of people on site.
Despite the ongoing coronavirus situation, Dina Foods had seen a “very significant increase” in demand for staple bakery products, with some orders doubling. It’s two-layered Paninette flatbread was among them, it said.
This had been offset by a lack of demand on the foodservice side of the business and savoury products, it added. As such, staff had been moved from savoury production, which makes items including falafel and houmous, to the bakery to help fulfil orders.
“We are pushing full steam ahead and we would like to thank our staff for everything they are doing at this difficult time; many are managing different roles in new areas or covering for colleagues,” said assistant general manager and project director Wilda Haddad.
The business has around 150 staff working across its sites.
