Brixton-based Share A Slice is set to donate over 1,000 pizzas to key workers this Christmas.
The pizzeria is commencing its 12 Days of Christmas charity giveaway from 7-19 December.
The project is an effort to give back to Share A Slice’s local community by feeding frontline staff and key workers from 12 different organisations.
The traditional Neapolitan pizzas will be donated to organisations including Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, Brixton Soup Kitchen and King’s College Hospital.
Brixton Station’s TFL staff, supermarket employees in Brixton and Windmill Care Home staff will also benefit.
Share A Slice has two sites at community space Pop Brixton and Bussey Rooftop Bar in Peckham.
The social enterprise aims to tackle the ongoing problem of hunger and lack of hot food available for those living on the streets in London.
Founders Raj and Sandeep began their journey by travelling to Naples to train under master pizzaiolo Enzo Coccia at Pizzeria La Notizia.
The pizzeria uses fresh ingredients imported on a weekly basis from Italy. The dough is left to rise for over 24 hours, to provide a “light and soft” taste. Vegan options are also available.
