Cleanbake has secured the UK licence to provide a range of non-stick coatings specifically targeted at the bakery market.
The bakery equipment firm, based in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, said it had struck the deal with Spanish-based coating specialist Coatresa to supply its Testrong range of durable fluoropolymer coatings to the UK market.
The move breaks a current monopoly in the UK market, which Cleanbake claims is worth an estimated £12m per annum.
Shaun Hughes, managing director at Cleanbake, said: “We’re breaking the UK monopoly on this type of coating, so that every bakery can have greater choice and cost-effective solutions to managing bakery equipment. Bakeries adopting a rolling programme to clean and refurbish equipment will be able to extend its lifespan considerably using the Testrong range of fluoropolymer coatings.
“As well as saving money and improving product quality, refurbishment has the added advantage of being a greener solution than replacement and will fit with many of our customers’ CSR strategies. We are now in the strongest position to offer bakeries an end-to-end solution for bakeware equipment at a competitive price.”
Tomas Marin, founder of Coatresa, said: “We anticipate that with our knowledge and experience of servicing these demanding applications in large-scale bakeries throughout Europe, the new venture with Cleanbake will prove very successful.”
Cleanbake currently supplies its bakeware to a range of customers, including Asda, Morrisons and a number of small, independent bakeries.
