Cosy bakery creations ranging from warm ciabattas and toasties to sweet treats embracing seasonal flavours have been launched on food-to-go and coffee chain autumn menus.
There are some spicy options to heat up the palate such as a Buffalo Chicken Baguette and a Bacon, Cheese & Jalapeño Pastry, as well as indulgent desserts like a Bonfire Toffee Muffin, a Loaded Chocolate Chunk Banana Bread, and a Pumpkin Spiced Cookie.
Find details from the new autumnal bakery offerings at Costa, Greggs, Pret, Starbucks and Subway below:
Costa
Costa has introduced two new toasties for customers to enjoy a warming lunch as the season changes. The Philly Cheesesteak Toastie (rsp: from £6.25) combines pulled beef brisket, roasted peppers, mature Cheddar and Regato cheese in a Tuscan-style flatbread. The Four Cheese Toastie (rsp: from £4.95) features Red Leicester, mozzarella, mature Cheddar and Emmental cheese, complemented with American-style mustard and served on cheese-topped white bread.
First launched back in 2023, the Nacho Chilli Cheese Chicken Toastie is back on menus this year. There’s also a raft of seasonal sweet bakery treats that are making their return. These include the Dubai Style Pistachio Tiffin, the Chocolate & Salted Caramel Cake, the Sticky Pecan Mini Loaf, the Iced Ghost Gingerbread Biscuit, the Chocolate Salted Caramel Cake, and the vegan Gingernut Loaf Cake (which was a finalist in the Free-From Bakery Product of the Year at the Baking Industry Awards 2024).
Costa’s signature autumn beverage flavour this year is Maple Hazel, blending roasted hazelnut and sweet maple notes and added to the likes of a new latte, iced latte, hot chocolate, and frappe.
Greggs
A muffin with bonfire toffee isn’t the only fiery new addition to Greggs’ menu this autumn, as it’s introducing a baguette and a pizza slice made with spicy Buffalo chicken.
The Buffalo Chicken Baguette (rsp: from £4.10) is packed with buffalo-style chicken mayonnaise, mature Cheddar cheese and red onion in a freshly baked baguette, while the Buffalo Chicken Pizza Slice (from £2.70) delivers the same bold flavours on a classic focaccia-style base.
Then there’s the Chicken & Pepperoni Toastie (from £3.80), comprising chicken in a pizza style sauce, mature Cheddar cheese and pepperoni sandwiched between white bread made with sourdough, topped with béchamel sauce and grated mixed cheese.
On the sweet side, the new Bonfire Toffee Muffin (rsp: from £1.65) captures seasonal tastes with a burnt toffee-flavoured filling and a chocolate and salted caramel flavour icing.
Making welcome returns are the Steak & Stilton Bake (from £2.50) and the Pumpkin Spice Doughnut (from £1.50), with Greggs’ fan-favourite Pumpkin Spice Latte getting an extra finish of new salted caramel drizzle.
Pret
Also turning up the heat as the weather cools is Pret with its brand-new range of warm ciabattas said to bring comforting, satisfying and seriously melty flavours to autumn lunchtimes.
This includes the Warm Three Cheese & Tomato Ciabatta (rsp: £6), which is filled with Cheddar, mozzarella and Italian-style cheese on a bed of red tapenade, topped with roasted tomatoes and basil. The Warm Chicken Caesar Bacon Ciabatta (£7) contains chicken and bacon in Pret’s Caesar dressing and topped with Grevé, Italian hard cheese, and spring onion. And completing the trio is the Warm Beef Birria & Jalapeno Ciabatta (rsp: £7) made with tender beef birria, classic black bean mole, and a layer of cream cheese, topped with peppers, spring onion and jalapeños.
There’s also a new range of hot savoury pastries including the Spinach & Feta Pastry (£4) and Bacon, Cheese & Jalapeño Pastry (£4), and sweet treats such as the Loaded Chocolate Chunk Banana Bread (£4) which is topped with a miso caramel glaze and caramelised flaked almonds. Pret has upgraded its freshly baked cookies range too, rolling out the new Chocolate Hazelnut Praline Cookie and Triple Chocolate Cookie, alongside an improved recipe for the Raspberry & White Chocolate Cookie and Chocolate Chunk Cookie (all £2.85 each).
Wash these down with the indulgent new Toasted Marshmallow Latte that combines espresso with steamed milk and a light layer of foam with toasted marshmallow flavour, finished with a swirl of marshmallow-flavoured whipped cream.
Starbucks
Pumpkin spice season comes back around at Starbucks, which is debuting an Iced Apple Crumble Matcha Latte with a buttery crumble topping as one of its new for 2026 drinks.
The coffee brand also has a selection of new sweet bakes to keep energy levels high this autumn. These include the Triple Chocolate & Hazelnut Cookie (rsp: from £3.75) that has white, milk and dark chocolate chunks and a hazelnut cream centre, along with the less chocolate and nut-free Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie (from £3.60).
The new Pumpkin Spice Cake Pop (from £3.05) is a pumpkin-shaped, bite-sized vanilla cake with pumpkin spiced frosting mixed with caramelised biscuit crumb, then enrobed in orange coloured white chocolate and green and black icing features. Another cute innovation is the Acorn Gingerbread Cookie (from £2,90) decorated with icing and sprinkles.
There’s a new Caramelised Biscuit Chocolate Bar too (from £2.75) – caramelised biscuit crunch with sultanas, finished with milk, dark and golden chocolate – and a gluten-free and plant-based Granola Bar (from £2.75) packed with oats, dried fruits, toasted nuts, seeds and a hint of orange.
The Apple Crumble Muffin has been relaunched with a new recipe, while the Lemon Loaf Cake, Birthday Cake Pop, and Pumpkin Marble Loaf Cake are all returning.
Subway
Sandwich chain Subway has unveiled a brand-new range of cookies inspired by the UK’s most popular hot drinks. This includes a Matcha & White Chip Cookie and a Pumpkin Spiced Cookie, the latter containing warming spice and chocolate chunks for a rich autumnal taste.
Joining these for some bite-sized indulgence over the autumn is the new Brownie Cookie Cup which has extra chocolate chunks in the cup part itself.
