Ginsters has unveiled a trio of gourmet pasties to be sold exclusively in Selfridges.
Launched to coincide with Cornish Pasty Week (24 to 29 February), the pasties will be served chilled from the deli counter of the Foodhall in Selfridge’s store on London’s Oxford Street.
They have been developed in collaboration with Gidleigh Park’s executive chef Chris Eden (pictured right) – the first chef born and raised in Cornwall to earn a Michelin star – and boast ‘luxury ingredients’, finished with an artisan hand-crimp. All three have an rsp of £4.99.
The trio, designed to showcase Ginsters’ 50-year heritage as a pasty connoisseur, is comprised of:
- Ginsters Wagyu Beef & Truffle Oil Pasty – featuring Cornwall-sourced wagyu beef, the pasty is also filled with heritage purple potatoes, leeks, swede and truffle oil, as well as sea salt and Sarawak pepper blends to provide the ‘Ginsters distinctive taste’.
- Ginsters Roasted Cauliflower & West Country Mature Cheddar Pasty – this vegetarian pasty has a rough puff, saffron-infused pastry filled with cauliflower, mature cheddar, butternut squash, sweet potato, swede and toasted pine nuts, all seasoned with sumac and chia seeds.
- Ginsters Flame Grilled Chicken, Coconut & Lemon Pasty – this pairs British chicken with coconut and sweet piquillo peppers, while spring onion, lemon and pepper ‘lend fragrance’. It’s finished with Hogs Bottom Devon Sweet Chilli Jam for a touch of warmth.
“Using the finest ingredients and expert craftmanship, this is our most luxurious range yet,” said Kieran Hemsworth, Ginsters managing director.
“During last year’s Cornish Pasty Week, we launched our award-winning Cornish Handcrafted range – there’s no better time to showcase our very best. Our new gourmet pasty range marks another milestone in our history and is a showcase for quality and our commitment to craft ‘a pasty for everyone’.”
It comes as Ginsters looks to diversify its portfolio. Just last week the business teamed up with Quorn to launch a vegan sausage roll.
