Belgian-based producer Pidy has added a larger size to its Trendy range of sweet ready-to-fill pastry cases.
The move builds on the success of the mini format versions, which are designed for use as sweet canapés or part of a sharing platter.
The sweet shortcrust pastry, which can be used for full-sized, individual desserts, is being sold in triangular, square and circular shapes, but has straight sides instead of the traditional fluted design. Once filled, it can hold its shape for 24 hours, said Pidy.
The round shell has a diameter of 7cm with a height of 1.8cm and is available in 36 or 96 pieces. The triangle is 8 x 8 x 8 x 1.4cm, and has 96 pieces per pack, while the square measures 7 x 7 x 1.8cm, and is sold in both 36 and 96 pieces.
An assortment pack of 36 pieces is also available, comprising 12 square and 24 round shells.
Fabien Levet, national account manager, Pidy UK, said: “Our existing mini Trendy range has been a big hit with chefs and we’re always delighted to listen to feedback and introduce products that meet every customer’s need. The ready-to-fill case features the same unique design as the Mini Trendy and the delicate tenderness of the pastry, but the larger size offers even more serving opportunities for those looking to offer something that little bit different.”
Earlier this year Pidy won a Chef’s Choice award for its Black Mussel Shell Canapé case.
