Stockport-based sweet treat specialist Silver Apples Bakery has secured a new supply deal with speciality coffee group 92 Degrees.

The partnership represents the latest stage of growth for the bakery business, which supplies independent cafés, hospitality venues and multi-site operators in the UK with the likes of cookies, muffins, traybakes, and cronuts.

Since being co-founded by sisters Sarah Hanley and Kate Ward in 2008, Silver Apples has continued to expand its wholesale operations whilst maintaining a focus on handmade production and quality ingredients. It currently employs 14 staff members at its 3,500 sq ft facility on Waterloo Industrial Estate.

The range being rolled out across 92 Degrees’ estate of 22 outlets nationwide includes Milk Chocolate & Sea Salt Cookies, White Chocolate Biscoff Cookies, Pistachio Cronuts, Biscoff Cronuts, Banana Bread, Free-from Brownies, Chocolate Caramel Flapjacks, Jammie Dodger Blondies, Biscoff Brownies, and Glazed House Cinnamon Buns. “They are taking lots of plant-based and flourless options from us, and our plant-based bakes are Vegetarian Society approved,” commented Hanley.

The Silver Apples MD revealed the two businesses had the opportunity to work together when they were in “their formative steps” several years ago. “It’s incredibly rewarding to reconnect after all this time and see how both organisations have evolved and grown,” she said.

“As two Northern-born businesses that have built their reputations on quality and customer experience, there is a natural alignment between our brands. We can’t wait for customers to enjoy our products alongside 92 Degrees’ exceptional coffee offering,” added Hanley.

The 92 Degrees brand was founded in Liverpool in 2014 by Jack Brewitt, taking its name from the supposed optimum brewing temperature for coffee. It operates a roastery in the Baltic Triangle area of the city, producing all of the company’s beans including for its signature ‘Damn Fine Coffee’. Retail locations span Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and most recently Birmingham, with expansion in the south planned for this year via a new franchise partnership covering Sussex and Kent.

“The Silver Apples range works really well for us in a specialty coffee shop environment, where premium quality and consistency really matter to our customer base, and the feedback during launch week has already been outstanding,” commented Will McIntosh, operations director at 92 Degrees. “They truly understand what we need as a fast-moving independent coffee business.”
