Greggs has opened the fourth Tasty by Greggs café in a Primark store.

Located on the first floor of the fashion retailer’s Bristol site, the 102-seat café opened its doors on 12 May, offering a classic Greggs menu including savoury items such as sausage rolls, sweet bakery treats, as well as Fairtrade freshly ground coffee. Sharing size pizzas, iced lattes, and the newly launched Vegan Mexican Chicken Free Bake will also be served.

The new shop follows the success of the first three Tasty by Greggs café, the most recent of which was two months ago at Primark’s store on Northumberland Street in Newcastle, the ‘home of Greggs’. Outlets had previously been opened in Birmingham and London.

Similar to the existing shops, the Bristol café features a mix of vibrant interiors and backdrops, described by Greggs as ‘perfect for Instagram and TikTok feeds’. This includes doughnut-inspired seating booths and a sausage roll swing, and also a mural depicting doughnut and coffee air balloons and flying sausage rolls in a nod to Bristol’s annual International Balloon Fiesta.

“Following the success of our first three ‘Tasty by Greggs’ cafés, we’re delighted to be bringing this exciting concept to Greggs fans in Bristol,” said Greggs property director Tony Rowson. “The opening marks another milestone moment in our efforts to open in new on-the-go locations where people work, shop and travel.”

Primark’s director of new business development Tim Kelly said the company was “constantly on the lookout for new ways to inspire and excite customers”, adding it was thrilled to extend the partnership to “four brilliant cafes”.

Greggs is chasing a repeat of its strong performance reported for 2022, which saw a 23% increase in total sales (up to £1,513m) compared to the previous year. Plans to open 150 shops this year come on the back of a record 186 new outlets opened last year, taking its estate up to 2,328 as of 31 December 2022.
