Cake decorations supplier Cake Décor has completed a £1m investment in a sprinkle decorations factory in Glasgow.
The business, which supplies products for trade users and retail, said the new facility enables it to create and manufacture its products in the UK – mitigating the potential effects of Brexit for its customers.
The investment has boosted capacity, and the business plans to work more closely with UK and European plant bakeries and supermarkets.
“We are incredibly proud of our new manufacturing facility – we made the decision to invest heavily to increase our production to cope with the ever-increasing demand for our products, both in retail and foodservice, and also to prevent any difficulties around Brexit,” said Cake Décor founder and managing director Bill Donnelly.
“We are very excited by what we can now achieve, both in terms of growth and reliability in these uncertain times.”
Cake Décor, which is privately owned, was launched in 2006 as a manufacturer of writing icing tubes, and has expanded its line-up to include sugarpaste, frostings, choco melts and sprinkles.
Its sprinkles, including 00s and 000s, sugar strands and sprinkle shapes, are sold in 15kg bulk boxes and resealable 500g tubs. All the company’s decorations contain no artificial colours or flavours and no hydrogenated fats.
The company recently appointed Paul Parkinson as UK sales manager for business to business.
