R&W Scott announces board changes

Bakery and confectionery ingredients supplier R&W Scott has restructured its board to build on its management buyout at the end of 2018.

John Easton, who led the buyout along with finance director Michael Hewitt, will take up a new role as executive chairman of parent company Scotts Holdco to focus on business strategy and potential mergers and acquisitions, as well as steering environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Stephen Currie, meanwhile, will step up from the role of commercial director to become managing director with immediate effect, while Clare McNeil, will now join the board as commercial director, having led the sales and development teams since joining the business in 2017.

Over the last month the directors and broader management team acquired the full shareholding of the company’s major independent investor, meaning over 96% of the firm’s ownership is in the hands of directors and employees of the business.

R&W Scott said it plans to continue its strategy of focusing on added-value chocolate coatings, bespoke soft fillings and premium soft icings.

Dodds joins Henley Bridge as sales director

Bakery ingredients supplier Henley Bridge has appointed Adrian Dodds as sales director as part of the company’s drive for growth.

Dodds’ experience in the industry includes 14 years as head of UK sales at Lantmännen Unibake.

“Henley Bridge is a very well-respected business with a fantastic product offer, unrivalled service and a broad and loyal customer base,” said Dodds. “The company has major growth ambitions, with a bigger group, Kent Foods, behind it for financial muscle, but there remains the autonomy and scope to be part of taking the business forward.

“My immediate priorities in the role will include capitalising on business growth opportunities, as well as developing the existing sales structure and longer-term strategy, all of which will support our continued development as a leading ingredient supplier.”

Tracey Hughes, managing director of Henley Bridge, said the company was “very excited” to welcome Dodds to the team. “As a business, we’re in very good shape and we have extremely ambitious sales targets for 2022. We’re confident Adrian will play a key role in achieving them,” she added.
