This year’s winner of the prestigious Outstanding Contribution award was bakery mogul David Powell.
Powell built up business, David Powell Bakeries into one of the largest specialist premium bakery suppliers to the supermarkets and coffee shop sector.
Since selling his business in 2005, he has also served as president of the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) and has mentored a number of businesses and students.
Powell has been praised for innovative product development, customer service and his passion for helping young people to improve their craft skills- something he wants to do more of in the future. We wonder who is to benefit from the bakery wings of Powell in 2015?
After winning the award, he told British Baker of his thoughts of the bakery industry, and plans for the future.
