Rapeseed oil firm to double output

Production is to be doubled at rapeseed oil producer Farrington Oils following a £200,000 investment at its site in Northamptionshire.

The maker of 'seed to bottle' cold-pressed rapeseed oil, is in the process of completing the six-month investment plan, prompted by a 90% rise in turnover in the past year. The firm's turnover now exceeds £1m.

Capacity will double at its farm in Hargrave, with investment made in all areas of the business from seed storage, to press facility and bottling output. Duncan Farrington, managing director, Farrington Oils, said: "This has been a major investment for our business and I'm very proud that over 90% has been spent on British manufactured equipment and local fabricators."

The firm has also increased its workforce, with the creation of two new jobs, and has introduced a company pension and bonus scheme.

Farrington added: "We are still a very small company, but with our rapid growth we are starting to put foundations in place for the long term."

Rapeseed Oil can be used as an alternative fat and oil in a number of bakery products including bread, cakes and biscuits.
