Bowen’s Pies will move from their current Adlington base to the former Initial Laundry site on Botany Brow in April.

The regeneration of a former industrial laundry site has begun, with the announcement that the expanding bakery business is set to relocate there.

The 20 year-old company, which produces pies and puddings for around 60 shops, restaurants and takeaways, will occupy three of the seven units at the site, and around 70% of the available floor space.

Run by father and son Vince and Paul Bowen, it will also open up a second retail shop on the frontage of the development, creating five new jobs, bringing their number of employees to 19. The Adlington retail shop will also remain open after the move in April.

Great location

Paul said: “We’re delighted to take over a large part of the new development. It gives us much more room in a great location and we’re very excited to open a second shop.”

He added: “It’s a big investment for us, but we’ll all be working hard to keep and improve our quality and grow the business.”
