Game of Scones? TV show’s baker launches themed products through Deliveroo

An actor who played an apprentice baker in Game of Thrones has opened a bakery inspired by the TV show.

Ben Hawkey, who played orphan and baker Hot Pie in the show, will offer mini loaves of Direwolf-shaped bread through online food delivery service Deliveroo. They are inspired by a loaf baked by his character on the show and given to heroine Arya Stark in one episode.

The loaves will be available for £1 each on Deliveroo from 17 July, to coincide with the premiere of the seventh series of the programme.

The new bakery service, which is named ‘You Know Nothing John Dough’ – a play on popular Game of Thrones ‘You know nothing Jon Snow’, will also offer ‘John Dough’ cornbread loaves with orange zest.

“Deliveroo customers will have the chance to try Hot Pie’s Direwolf loaves themselves,” Hawkey said. “You don’t even need to take a dangerous walk down the King’s Road [a location in Game of Thrones’ setting Westeros] to visit, it comes to you...”

A spokesperson from Deliveroo said: “It’s brilliant that we have been able to help Ben realise his dream of opening a real-world bakery, bringing a classic piece of on-screen cuisine to the real world. At Deliveroo we want to make good on our promise to widen access to the world’s best food, whether it’s from ours or from Westeros.”

Game of Thrones fans are advised by Deliveroo to search ‘You Know Nothing John Dough’ in the app where they can find the products.
