Gail’s has unveiled a new 3,200 sq ft location opening next month at The Broadway, a mixed-use development in St James’s Park, central London.
With space to accommodate 74 covers inside and 25 outside, it represents the bakery chain’s biggest shop in the capital amongst 117 other stores – its UK-wide estate is currently at 193. Gail’s biggest overall site remains at Gatwick Airport, which opened in June last year and offers seating for 100 people.
The company broke into the top 10 of British Baker’s Bakery Market Report 2026 list after adding 33 shops to its estate last year, and has since introduced new four new London outlets in Tooting Broadway, Westfield Stratford, Cheapside, and Holland Park. Another in Kings Cross as well as one up in Banbury are planned for the coming months.
Led by asset manager Valouran and designed by architectural firm Squire & Partners, The Broadway comprises 258 residences across six towers, alongside 116,000 sq ft of office space and 24,000 sq ft of curated retail and dining space at street level. Gail’s will join other food and beverage brands already in place including Atis, Farmer J, Coyo Taco, Açaí Berry, and Nostos Coffee.

Gail’s confirmed its latest bakery will be creating several new baking, barista, and management jobs. “Through our Neighbourly Partnership we will also be donating surplus food to local charities as part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the communities that we serve and help to improve access to quality food and drink,” said a spokesperson.
Alex Michelin, co-founder and CEO of Valouran, commented that “wherever Gail’s open, they bring energy, a genuine sense of community and a quality that sets the tone for everything around them”, “They have earned a loyal following across London by never compromising on quality or craft, and their decision to open at The Broadway speaks to the exceptional destination we are creating in St James’s Park,” he added.
As outlined by managing director Nick Ayerst at MCA’s Food To Go Conference earlier this year, Gail’s also plans to launch a new standard sliced white loaf with a clean deck of ingredients for supermarkets later this year. This is expected to build on its existing retail proposition with Waitrose and Ocado.
