Rich Products has announced its thaw-and-serve bakery range, Baked, is launching in 875 One Stop stores across the UK.
The range available in the convenience retailer will initially consist of white chocolate cookies and triple chocolate cookies.
The move is part of Rich’s drive to increase its distribution within the convenience channel.
“We can’t wait to see our Baked cookies available via One Stop stores across the UK,” said John Want, sales, marketing and R&D director for Rich Products.
“Shoppers are looking to their local convenience stores to not only provide the basic everyday items, but also to offer products that they can treat themselves with. We’ve ensured we are delivering these products in eye-catching, shelf-ready packaging, which makes things so easy for the retailer.”
Overall, in-store bakery (ISB) cookies have performed well in the market this year, notes the company, with analyst Kantar reporting a 1.9% rise in value sales for the 12 weeks ending 9 August 2020.
The September update of Lumina Intelligence’s Convenience Market Report also noted that an increase in food-to-go convenience missions have been a lasting effect of the first lockdown.
“Sweet bakery has performed well this year and we expect sales to be strong in the months ahead, especially in the local convenience channel, with consumers willing to spend more on visually enticing cookies that offer an enjoyable and luxurious eating experience,” Want added.
The full Baked range, developed at Rich’s facility in Andover, is targeted towards the wholesale, grocery, foodservice and out of home channels and features muffins, buns and shortbreads, as well as cookies.
