Dawn Foods has named University College Birmingham (UCB) student Rebecca Orrell as its second student ambassador.
Orrell, who will join Dawn Foods this summer, is studying a Foundation Degree in Bakery and Patisserie at UCB. She will spend the next nine months with the bakery manufacturer gaining insight into its operations as well as partnering with them on NPD projects.
She will be working closely with Robin Loud, Dawn Foods’ application chef, on developing new ideas for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day, as well as blogging about her experiences.
“Baking is in my family and I love it. My passion was brought to life while baking with my grandma when I was young and I am determined to learn as much as possible to develop my skills further,” said Orrell.
She follows in the footsteps of Laura Gibbons, also from UCB, who was appointed Dawn’s first student ambassador at the start of last year. During her time with the company, she worked on several projects to recreate traditional bakery favourites in new formats and with different ingredients as part of Dawn’s Creating New Traditions campaign.
“Dawn Foods is committed to supporting young people in this industry. It’s their passion for knowledge and desire to experiment that keeps product ideas exciting and fresh,” added Jacqui Passmore, marketing manager UK and Ireland at Dawn Foods.
“We gained a great deal from launching the Student Ambassador project last year and we’re looking forward to welcoming Rebecca to Dawn.”
