Bakers Basco has launched a new digital app designed to transform how its field team manages bakery equipment investigations and recovery across the UK.
Following a successful year-long trial, the Basco Intel 360 app is being rolled out across Bakers Basco’s investigations team. It has been developed to help streamline operations and reduce administration time by enabling officers to log investigations, track equipment, and manage recovery activity directly from their mobile phones.
This replaces manual reporting methods such as email updates and spreadsheets with a single digital system that records investigations in real time and automatically shares information with the Basco operations team. Officers can quickly log activities such as issuing charges, recording notices to desist, conducting stock audits, or recovering unsecure equipment from stores and depots.
The system also automatically sends alerts to relevant stakeholders when equipment belonging to different bakery brands is identified, helping ensure faster collection and improved coordination across the supply chain.

According to Andy Dugmore, assistant investigations manager at Bakers Basco, the technology marks a significant step forward for the organisation’s operations. “Previously our officers would send their jobs in different formats by email, which meant our team had to interpret and manually record everything into spreadsheets,” he said. “The new app standardises how information is captured and sends it straight into our system, which removes the risk of errors and saves significant administration time.”
The app is integrated with Microsoft Power BI, which enables Bakers Basco to analyse operational data more effectively and identify equipment misuse patterns, track recovery performance, and pinpoint potential hotspots for equipment loss.
“The real power of this system is the data it generates,” Dugmore added. “Instead of searching through multiple spreadsheets, we can see everything in one place and quickly identify trends or locations that require attention. It’s definitely a game changer for the way we manage investigations and recover equipment.”
The mobile-first platform also allows officers to upload photographs, record equipment counts, and track payment plans linked to recovery cases, ensuring investigations can be managed entirely on the move.
“Ultimately this technology allows our team to spend less time on administration and more time doing what matters most – finding missing equipment and returning it to the baking supply chain,” Dugmore said.
Bakers Basco is a membership scheme that operates a pool of over five million baskets and 500,000 dollies for 25 UK bakery licensees including Warburtons, Hovis, Fine Lady Bakeries, Allied Bakeries, and Frank Roberts & Sons.
Earlier this year, it was awarded over £13k after securing a court decree against Edinburgh-based supplier Taza Bake in relation to equipment misuse.
