Proper Cornish’s new, handheld ‘on-the-go’ pies have been listed by wholesaler Bidvest and caterer Compass Group.
The star-shaped pies have been specifically designed for generation Y and Millennial professionals who are looking for fast and portable breakfast and lunch solutions.
The deals are hoped to bring in substantial revenue for the company, which has almost completed the staged opening of its new 73,000sq ft factory in Bodmin.
Mark Muncey, marketing director for Proper Cornish, said: “We are expecting something in the region of £400-£600,000.”
Designed for maximum convenience and portability, the pastry is formulated not to crumble and the filling is thick enough not to dribble, so buyers will not risk spoiling their clothing.
Each pie weighs 145 grams and comes in four flavours: steak & ale, chicken, bacon & leek, pork and asparagus & mushroom.
Muncey said: “The on-the-go sector is continuing to see rapid growth as time-poor consumers search for the ultimate on-the-go product that doesn’t compromise on taste.
“The launch of our new handheld pie range represents a breakthrough in the on-the-go pie sector and its success looks set to continue as consumers look for a warm and filling treat as we approach the winter months.”
