Bells Food Group has created a new arm of the business dedicated to the manufacture and supply of pastry.
Called Bells Professional Pastry, the division has been launched to provide an “added value pastry offering to food manufacturers wholesalers, bakeries and butchers”. The move follows a £3.6m investment to double Bells’ pastry production capacity to 150 tonnes per week.
Based in Shotts, Lanarkshire, Bells Food Group is a third-generation Scottish family business employing more than 200 people at its two manufacturing and one logistics sites. The business produces pies, pastries and gingerbread.
The new arm will focus on four core product ranges:
- Roll & Cut: rolls, slabs or sheets of pastry
- Specialist Pastry: pre-cut shapes and designs for ready-to-cook ranges, such as wellingtons, turnovers and parcels
- Bespoke: for unique pastry requirements
- Fill & Bake: for everyday bakery products, such as pies, sausage rolls and quiches.
“The launch of Bells Professional Pastry gives us a real opportunity to provide expertise and added value to our customers,” said Bells Food Group pastry business manager James Drury. “We’re a highly experienced team and have the creativity and capability to produce exceptional products beyond expectations.”
Bells Professional Pastry is being supported with a new website, a targeted direct mail campaign and is part of a wider Bells Food Group brand development programme that will include new products and packaging.
