Bakery ingredients supplier Macphie is investing in its North Lanarkshire production facility.
The business has signed a five-year lease on a property next to its site at Tannochside Business Park in Uddingston, and carried out a £140,000 refit.
The move, which is designed to mitigate space constraints, follows a £750,000 spend on new equipment at Tannochside over the past three years, with an additional £5m invested in technology across the business.
Macphie has also invested £300,000 in the installation of a new waste water treatment plant at Tannochside to protect the environment in the event of a predicted increase in production at the factory.
“A lot has changed in the industry since we took over the site in 2000, but Macphie retains the same long-term commitment to sustainable, profitable growth,” said chairman Alastair Macphie.
“With several significant new business wins with international brands under our belt, this investment is essential as we gear ourselves up to take advantage of the many commercial opportunities out there in the marketplace.”
Macphie employs around 300 workers across three sites: its headquarters in Glenbervie in Aberdeenshire, its facility in Tannochside in North Lanarkshire, and its Midlands Centre outside Coventry.
