Nationwide cake delivery service Mums Bake Cakes is looking to recruit more bakers to sell their products through its website.
Founded last year by Paula Wilkinson (pictured), the Kent-based start-up is this year aiming to double the number of bakers who sell via its website after a record number of new customers visited the site in December.
The business is a platform that signs up bakers across the UK, who (following a standards process) can sell their fresh cakes online to customers in their local area. There are currently 140 bakers signed up to the site.
Customers are then able to use the site to order homemade cakes for themselves - or for friends and family from bakers around the country – choosing from the cakes on offer in that local postcode.
Mums Bake Cakes received a £25,000 loan from government-backed The Start Up Loans Company to launch the venture.
Wilkinson said: “We’ve had such a great reaction to Mums Bake Cakes since launching. We have a dedicated network of bakers who always go the extra mile to make sure every delivery is something special.”
Tim Sawyer, CEO of The Start Up Loans Company, said: “Paula’s passion for the business has seen her create a successful start-up, and her achievements to date are a testament to her hard work and commitment.”
