Asda trials pizza delivery service with Just Eat

Four Asda stores have introduced a pizza delivery service as part of a trial in partnership with Just Eat.

The service, which had already been trialled for almost a month at Asda’s Killingbeck store, delivers freshly cooked pizzas to customers within a two-mile radius.

Customers can order via the Just Eat app, and choose from a selection of pizzas, priced at £6 for a 16-inch pizza. Varieties include Margherita, American Sizzler, Pepperoni and Vegetable Supreme.

It also offers a £15 meal deal, which includes any pizza, four sides, a bottled drink, a dessert and a dip.

The extension of the trial is being rolled out to Asda stores in Beeston, Wakefield and Livingston from 19 November.

In addition to the delivery service, customers will be able to buy cooked pizzas from the Asda in-store diner, where they can choose to eat in or take-away.

Asda said that, if the trial was successful, it would look to continue the rollout to more stores.

"We are really excited to be trialling this new service in our store in Killingbeck, along with plans to roll out to three more stores later this month,” said James Ainger, senior buying manager at Asda. “We know our customers love Asda pizzas and now they can have them delivered to their doorstep.”

Last year, Sainsbury’s partnered with Italian chain Zizzi to pilot a takeaway scheme, which it said represented the demand for replicating restaurant experiences at home.
