BBC seeks bakery

The BBC is searching for a bakery to take part in a new TV programme about family businesses. The BBC2 series will feature a different business in each episode, and is keen to feature a family-run bakery, particularly one that is facing challenges or dilemmas and is happy to discuss the ups and downs of everyday life. Heroic win

Duncan Glendinning, founder of The Thoughtful Bread Company, was recently awarded the Food Hero accolade at the Good Housekeeping Food Awards. Slow Food UK helped draw up the shortlist for its small producer award categories, and said: "The tireless energy and passion that goes into Duncan’s bread is reflected in each hand-rolled loaf bursting with local and seasonal ingredients."

Sacks for charity

A charity set up to help sufferers of cerebral palsy in Africa has been using donated Rank Hovis paper flour sacks to build furniture. Chairs, tables and standing frames are made as part of rehabilitation programmes run by Cerebral Palsy Africa.
