Starbucks is to open its first cinema-based shop with national chain Cineworld.

The store will be trialled at its venue in in Sheffield’s Valley Centertainment Leisure Park, with hopes to roll it out nationwide should it be successful. The coffee company also plans to have 10 drive-thru outlets open by the end of the year.

A spokesman for the firm said: “People stayed away from the town centres for a couple of weeks afterwards. But we saw a big bounce-back in September, so it seems as if people got back into their routines.”

Despite the riots and looting during August, Starbucks revealed that takings increased between July and September and were up by a “low, single-figure percent”. Seven of its branches were trashed during the troubles, with 30 more forced to shut early.
