Convenience retailer Co-op has added a breakfast meal deal to its offer featuring a hot drink and breakfast roll for £3.50.
The new deal is available in over 700 Co-op stores nationwide and shoppers can choose from 18 Costa Coffee drinks from the in-store express machines, including regular coffees – priced at £3.20 – and a choice of three hot breakfast options, including Co-op’s Bacon Breakfast Roll and Sausage Breakfast Roll, which normally cost £2.25 each, and Co-op’s Omelette Sandwich resulting in a saving of up to £1.95.
Additionally, shoppers who prefer tea over coffee can also grab the deal, as Costa’s tea/short drinks are also available for selection. Normally priced at £2.40, shoppers can still save over half price on Co-op’s breakfast rolls to kickstart their day.
Food-to-go is becoming more of a focus for Co-op which rolled out a chain of food-for-now shops in July. Each site is around a quarter of the size of its typical outlets and have a range which caters for the growing ‘grab-and-go’ consumer culture. The new offer will also be available at these stores.
“Our latest breakfast offer will allow Co-op customers to grab a great value, great tasting British breakfast roll ‘on the go’ and a hot drink to sip alongside, setting them up for a busy day ahead,” said Caroline Brilley, Co-op’s food to go buyer.
“We know Co-op shoppers also love a Costa Coffee and as a convenience retailer with stores across the UK, it makes us the perfect destination to serve up a convenient, quality breakfast.”
The retailer also made changes to its lunchtime meal deal last year when it added in-store bakery lines, including All Butter Croissants, Cinnamon Swirls, and Apple Crowns, as a snack option.
Meal deals are becoming increasingly important to retailers and coffee shops as shoppers look for the best value options. For example, in September, Pret announced that it was testing a range of new meal deals at its UK stores across breakfast and lunchtime day parts. Greggs also unveiled a lunchtime meal deal which saw consumers get a main, drink, and said for £5.
