Sandwich Sandwich has unveiled its first Grab & Go only store, aimed at redefining the food to go market.

The new shop at the 1 Broadgate workspace near Liverpool Street station joins the brand’s three other sites opened in London over the past two years.

Designed specifically for speed, quality, and convenience, it offers Sandwich Sandwich’s full menu freshly made every morning and packaged into premium Grab & Go boxes ready for customers to pick up.

Alongside the range of signature sandwiches, the Broadgate store will also serve specialty coffee as well as sausage rolls freshly baked on-site and soft-boiled Scotch eggs.

“For too long, pre-packaged food to go, especially sandwiches, has lacked creativity and care,” commented Sandwich Sandwich founder Nick Klein. “This store is our response to that. Broadgate allows us to show that Grab & Go and food to go in general, can still be genuinely exciting and creative.”

Klein also described the new site as a “necessary evolution for the business and one that’s been shaped entirely around our fantastic customers, their busy schedules and their high expectations”.

While an opening date has yet to be confirmed, the project has already been 18 months in the making. It has involved the likes of end-to-end design of custom packaging to ensure product quality and significant investment in new refrigerated vans to support the logistics of daily fresh production at scale.

Sandwich Sandwich has plans to reach 25 stores across the capital within the next five years, and is targeting expansion into transport hubs such as train stations and airports.

The company was founded in 2012 in Bristol, where it still operates two shops on Baldwin Street and Queens Road. It opened its first London shop on Gresham Street in July 2024, before adding a 3,500 sq ft flagship store on Mark Lane and more recently a site on Tottenham Court Road.

Premium (gourmet) sandwiches are having a moment in UK retail. American chain Which Wich Superior Sandwiches is looking to support a strategic nationwide rollout via franchises, whilst new brand Marvin’s – owned by Stir Cambridge – is planning new openings this year.
