French bakery specialist Bridor is investing $32m (£21.5m) in expanding its Vineland site in New Jersey.

The facility will be expanded from 136,000sq ft to 183,000sq ft, launching later this month. Bread is already baked at the site and, following the relaunch, pastry manufacturing will also be incorporated to “help meet the market’s demand for croissants and Viennese pastries”. The pastries will be made on-site and incorporate locally sourced ingredients.

Bridor expects the extension to create 45 more jobs for area workers with employee numbers increasing from 132 to 177.

The company first came to Vineland in 2002 to serve the US market. Bridor USA Inc is based in Canada and has served the North American baked goods market for 30 years. Bridor itself is based in France.

Products for the UK are imported from France and there are eight factories overall, selling to 85 countries.

Bridor has developed a range of gluten-free products and joined forces with restaurateurs Michel Roux Jr and Frédéric Lalos for a bread range.
