Gluten-free business The Little Bakery of Happiness is to open a dedicated production facility and walk-in bakery in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
The site opens on Friday 2 August and is located at Nene Court Shopping Village, an old Victorian Gasworks. The walk-in bakery will initially be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 11am-3pm and on Saturdays from 10am-2pm, with a view to extending hours further down the line.
A selection of sweet and savoury gluten-free treats, including cakes and brownies, pies and tarts, scotch eggs and sausage rolls, will be on offer.
It also produces products for a wholesale operation, which supplies coffee shops, restaurants and catering outlets across the county, as well as farm shops, delis and Silverstone Circuits.
“I started the business from home in 2013 and, over the first couple of years, saw steady, manageable growth. But with an expanding product range and the introduction of a wholesale arm to the business, demand soon outstripped capacity, so the hunt for a bigger space from which to bake began,” said Vicky Robertson, owner of The Little Bakery of Happiness.
“The relocation to Nene Court will provide the space needed to increase production and respond to the demand from wholesale customers and offers a great opportunity to open a walk-in bakery for customers to pop in and buy, which had previously not been possible.”
