The contest to find a team to represent the UK in the 2012 Sigep Bread Cup is now on.

The competition’s qualifying and selection rounds will take place at Sheffield City College on 11 and 12 April, in association with the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) and Club Arte e Mestieri.

A team of bakery professionals will then be chosen to compete as part the UK team in the four-day live event in Rimini, Italy next year. The successful candidates will be announced at the annual ABST conference, to take place at Alton Towers from 10-12 June.

The classes are as follows: artisan bread and innovative healthy bread; cake and plated dessert; and artistic bread centrepiece.
