Stacey’s Bakery bakes poppy cupcakes for appeal

Derbyshire-based bakery Stacey’s will create cupcakes decorated with a poppy to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

The cupcakes will be available to purchase from its shops in Ilkeston, Heanor and Eastwood for £1 each in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday on 12 November, with all funds going towards the appeal. All proceeds will be presented to the Ilkeston branch of the Royal British Legion.

“We hope all our customers will enjoy them and put their hands in their pockets for the Royal British Legion,” said Stacey’s Bakery owner David Stacey. “When it came to choosing a charity we thought it would be a great idea to create a new cake that people can enjoy while raising money for a good cause at the same time.”

Each year, Stacey’s raises money for a charity through the sales of its products and, last year, chose to make green cakes for the NSPCC.

The Royal British Legion is a registered charity, providing support for the Armed Forces community - serving men and women, veterans and their families.
