Central Foods is continuing to cater for free-from products with the introduction of a gluten-free sausage roll.
Available across the foodservice sector, the Menuserve-branded gluten-free sausage roll is filled with seasoned British pork and coated with puff pastry.
The sausage roll is the latest in a wide range of free-from items supplied by the frozen food distributor, but managing director Gordon Lauder believes there is a gap in the market for savoury gluten-free items.
“There is a plethora of delicious sweet gluten-free products available for foodservice now, but sometimes savoury items are overlooked,” said Lauder. “We see the gluten-free sausage roll as a great product to fulfil a number of current trends, including the trend for snacking, the increasing demand for free-from items, the popularity of hand-held food products, and the interest in provenance, particularly of meat.”
Central Foods has worked with Coeliac UK since 2009 as part of its commitment to source and supply free-from foods. The distributor recently added the Katerbake gluten-free ring doughnut to its gluten-free range.
