Doughnotts has brought back its online nationwide delivery service due to high customer demand.
The Nottingham-based doughnut specialist has teamed up with two local companies, courier delivery service Legion Express and print and packaging firm Print4 Ltd, to help create a reliable shipping option.
“We ended our delivery service to focus on getting the flavours and fillings spot on for a big relaunch but, since then, we’ve been inundated with messages from a huge number of customers to bring it back,” commented Doughnotts co-founder Wade Smith.
The company, which runs a chain of eight stores across the Midlands including locations in Nottingham, Derby, South Normanton, Lincoln, and Cannock, noted the need to adapt some of its existing range for delivery purposes.
“After many weeks of trial and error exploring new delivery box designs and putting the transportation of our doughnuts to the test, we have now launched our new and improved delivery service,” said Wade.
“Some of our classic flavours weren’t suitable for shipping due to them being loaded with toppings that won’t stay in place in the post. So, we created stuffed versions of six classic flavours that have been loved since day one to create the brand-new Superfilled Classics box.”
Suitable for vegans or vegetarians, the Superfilled Classic box contains a mix of six different doughnuts flavours including Cherry Bakewell, Scoff It (Biscoff-themed), Birthday Cake, Thicka Than A Snicka, Weekend Billionaire, and Lemon Meringue.
“We reinvented these firm favourites so they are able to travel in one piece while still bursting at the seams with filling,” added Wade. “This box joins our wider range of dipped, dusted and deep-filled doughnuts that are made in Nottingham and delivered nationwide.”
Other half-dozen doughnut boxes available for purchase via the Doughnotts website include the vegan-friendly Biscuit Bonanza, the Chocolate Lovers, the Standard Classics, the Premium Classics, and the Build Your Own box. There’s also the ‘Big Boy’ Doughnotts, eight-inch diameter supersized doughnuts that can serve up to eight people.
Greeting cards can also accompany orders for an additional £2.50. “There are a mix of messages and gorgeous designs to suit a range of special occasions including birthdays, graduations and get well soon wishes, as well as sweet options for loved ones – because nothing says I love you like a doughnut,” expressed Wade.
Fellow UK doughnut brands have experience mixed fortunes of late. Healthier doughnut brand Urban Legend raised £3m in its latest investment round, while London-based Crosstown is currently looking to attract funding to help continue its growth domestically and expand overseas. However, Derby-based Project D revealed it has recently emerged from a three-month period of losses.
