Family bakery Bells of Lazonby has introduced a gluten-free and milk-free double chocolate brownie to meet a gap in the foodservice market.
Available from frozen food wholesalers, the double chocolate brownies, which are baked at Bells of Lazonby’s gluten-, wheat- and milk-free bakery, are part of the ‘We Love Cake’ range and sold in cases of 18.
They come frozen and have a defrost shelf life of four weeks. They are individually wrapped and each slice contains 339 calories.
The launch comes with the rise of consumers opting for dairy-free food and drink growing to almost one in every five in the UK, according to Food Standards Agency.
Bells described the brownie as a great on-the-go snack for cafés, as well as having the potential to be served in restaurants.
“We benchmark all our gluten-free products against their conventional counterparts and refuse to launch any products until we produce something that tastes as good as the ‘real thing’,” said Bells of Lazonby managing director Michael Bell.
The brownie joins the chocolate muffin, chocolate & orange tart and apricot macaroon slice in the We Love Cake range.
