Roberts Bakery held a one-day-only pop-up restaurant suspended 100ft above Manchester’s Etihad Stadium last week.

The bakery put on five flights throughout the day, carrying 110 passengers in total, including Coronation Street stars Sally Dynevor and Connie Hyde.

The Cheshire-based bakery partnered with Events in the Sky and guests enjoyed a spread of its latest products including Gin & Tonic Fun Buns, Fiery Corn Ready-to Rolls and artisan bloomers.

The Roberts innovation team also created mini loaves especially for the event, such as stuffed courgette and mushroom, seasoned with turmeric. Other exclusive products included a loaf containing camembert and rose jelly.

Roberts told British Baker that while they had no immediate plans to launch these new products, they were among the many new flavours and formats under development by the team for possible introduction to the market in the future.
