The Pork Farms Group has launched its new Pork ’n’ Pea pie.
Placing the peas within the centre of each pie, Pork Farms says it is “capitalising on the regional tradition of pork pies being served hot with mushy peas for Bonfire Night and Halloween”.
The Pork ’n’ Pea pie contains bacon, pork and mushy peas, wrapped in pastry, and can be eaten hot straight from the oven in 15 minutes.
Chris Peters, managing director at Pork Farms, said: “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do here at Pork Farms. We are always experimenting with new ideas and investing in advanced technology that allows us to create exciting new products, like the new Pork ’n’ Pea Pie.
‘‘Consumers continually hunt for products that save both time and money and by using our new technology to put the peas in the pie, we are confident we’ve created an innovative solution that will appeal to the whole family throughout the key pie-eating season.’’
The product will be tested in Asda from September at an introductory price of £1.00 but will revert back to RRP £1.50 from 5 November.
The product follows the announcement earlier this month that Pork Farms may be put up for sale by Vision Capital.
It is understood that the private equity firm has chosen corporate finance advisor McQueen to advise on the potential sale.
