Cooplands raises £8,000 with charity sausage rolls

Yorkshire-based bakery Cooplands has raised over £8,000 for The Trussell Trust through sales of its pork sausage rolls.

The bakery raised £8,303 for The Trussell Trust, donating 5p from every purchase of its ‘four sausage rolls for £1’ deal to the charity from 20 December to 3 January.

The fundraising began after dad blogger LadBaby donated the proceeds from his Christmas number one ‘I Love Sausage Rolls’ to the charity.

“No one should need a food bank in the UK – this generous donation will help us continue to work with food banks. We know we can reach a future where everyone has enough money for the essentials, but we can’t get there alone,” said Richard Moody, fundraising director at The Trussell Trust.

The charity aims to support food bank centres across the UK, provide emergency food to people locked in poverty, while also campaigning for change to end the need for food banks.

“Christmas holidays should mean fun and enjoying family time together, but knowing that some families are going without the food they need is heart-breaking. We loved watching LadBaby’s video and felt we could do something to support their fundraising aims,” said Belinda Youngs, CEO at Cooplands.

“Our sausage rolls are a regional best-seller, so it seemed a fitting link, and we hope the money we raised will go towards The Trussell Trust’s mission to protect every family’s right to good food all year round.”
