Pupils will have to make their own pastry from scratch, come up with a name for the pie, and provide the judging panel with marketing materials to support their entry.

Buzzing Beehive

The Beehive Bakery owner Stacie Stewart has credited BBC’s Masterchef with launching her career. She made it to the semi-finals last year, and says her business is now thriving. She has also just launched The Beehive Bakery Vintage Tea Party experience, where she will drive to your house in a vintage VW camper van and serve party guests an array of cakes and sandwiches.

Hope for finalist

A Belfast man, who aspires to own his own bakery, is one of five finalists in a US contest called Dockers’ Wear the Pants Project, which would see the winner walk away with $100,000 to start a business and a year’s supply of Dockers pants, according to the Press Herald. Braden Gow hopes to start a wood-fired clay oven bakery making naturally leavened bread to sell at farmers markets and local co-ops in the Belfast area.
