US bakery brand Cinnabon has opened its flagship store in Newcastle city centre.
The bakery on Grainger Street offers free Wi-Fi, a lounge area and a bookcase that is home to ‘swap a book initiative’ where people can read, exchange, and donate books. The store has capacity for around 30 customers dining in, as well as a takeaway service.
Cinnabon dough will be produced from scratch at the in-house kitchen, and hand-rolled and baked in store. Products on offer will include Classic Cinnamon Rolls, which are baked with Makara cinnamon and brown sugar and topped with cream cheese frosting. They will also be available in the smaller, MiniBon format.
Cinnabon also offers a range of made-to-order blended beverages and espresso-based coffees.
Consumers can also order treats via Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat, as well as online for next day nationwide delivery.
“The opening of our brand-new state-of-the-art Newcastle flagship store will bring Cinnabon’s goodness to even more people across the UK,” said Mohammed Tayab, food and beverage director at Cinnabon UK master franchisee EG Group. “Our in-house kitchen means that guests will be able to enjoy freshly baked treats in the warmth and world-class hospitality of Cinnabon.”
EG Group became the master franchisee for Cinnabon UK in 2020. In the same year, the first Cinnabon store opened in Blackburn, the base of EG Group’s global headquarters. The business revealed plans to open more city centre locations this year, including a site at Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford.
Founded in 2001 by the Issa brothers, EG Group is a leading independent convenience retailer, and owner of businesses including Asda and Leon Restaurants. In 2021 it bought bakery chain Cooplands for an undisclosed sum.
