Higgidy is extending its partnership with Judi Love into 2025 in launching of a new limited-edition pie co-created by the comedian and TV presenter.
The Braised Beef and Butter Bean Pie (rsp: £3.75 | 200g) will be rolled out exclusively at Sainsbury’s stores nationwide from 22 January, and will be available until April. Featuring a rich beef gravy with spicy Scotch bonnet pepper, the recipe was developed through a cooking and tasting day that Love attended with Higgidy’s team during the autumn, where she delved into her Caribbean culinary heritage.
Love is known for showcasing her cooking skills on shows like MasterChef, Great British Bake Off, and ‘Judi Love’s Culinary Cuisine’. “I have loved working with Higgidy over the past two years and I’m so excited that our pie is available to buy at Sainsbury’s,” she commented. “I hope my and Higgidy’s fans will love the recipe as much as I do. It’s comforting, moreish and has a bit of a Judi kick. I can’t wait to see it on shelves!”
The Samworth Brothers-owned savoury pastry specialist previously teamed up with Love for its ‘Dig Into A Higgidy’ campaign in 2023, which promoted the brand’s premium pie range. Last September, it updated the recipes of its six bestselling pies and reformulated its pastry with Wildfarmed flour.
Five out of the six pies will be available at Higgidy’s first-ever pop up shop in London for one day only on 23 January 2025 to help mark National Pie Day.
Three meat options include the Creamy Chicken & Sauteed Leek Pie with white wine, the Slow-Braised Steak & Craft Ale Pie with carrots, and Slow-Cooked Steak, Red Wine & Bacon Pie with chestnut mushrooms. The two vegetarian choices are the Spinach, Greek Feta & Pine Nut Pie with roasted red peppers, and the Three Cheese, Cauliflower & Broccoli Pie with garlic and thyme crumb.
The first 50 people in the queue for the 10am opening of the shop, located at 27 Goodge Street, will each receive a free pie while more will be sold for just £2 apiece thereafter until 6pm.
