Smoky Chorizo and Slow Roasted Red Pepper Quiche

Savoury pastry specialist Higgidy is looking to turn the quiche season on its head with the launch of a new product for the colder months inspired by Spanish flavours.

The Samworth Brothers-owned brand has also unveiled a new autumn pie range with ‘even tastier’ recipes, whilst rolling out a second run of its ‘Dig Into A Higgidy’ campaign staring comedian and TV presenter Judi Love.

Set to warm up consumers this winter is the new Smoky Chorizo & Slow Roasted Red Pepper Quiche featuring crumbly shortcrust pastry hand-topped with a spicy nduja and paprika crumb, for an extra punch of flavour.

The 400g quiche takes only 18 minutes to cook and serves four people. Higgidy recommends it for an easy mid-week meal accompanied by a warm side of oven-baked potato wedges, a recipe for which is included on the side of the box.

Already stocked in Waitrose chillers, it will also be rolled out at Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Ocado, and Booths with an rsp of £4.60.

In addition to the new quiche, Higgidy has also refreshed its premium pie range with updated recipes including the introduction of Wildfarmed flour sourced from regenerative farms into the pastry.

This follows suit from the reformulation of its mini muffins last year, and continues its commitment towards creating a better food future.

All six of Higgidy’s top selling pies have also been relaunched in 100% recyclable packaging with fresh new designs. Priced at £3.65 for each 200g pie, they debuted this week at Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Ocado, and will become available at Tesco and Asda in early 2025.

The new range comprises:

  • Spinach, Greek Feta & Pine Nut Pie with roasted red peppers
  • Creamy 100% British free range Chicken breast & Sauteed Leek Pie with white wine
  • Slow Braised 100% (red Tractor Farm Assured) British Beef Steak & Craft Ale Pie with carrots
  • Slow-Cooked 100% (red Tractor Farm Assured) British beef Steak, Red Wine & Bacon Pie with chestnut mushrooms
  • Roasted Sweet Potato, Spinach & Feta Pie with Aleppo chilli
  • Three Cheese, Cauliflower & Broccoli Pie with garlic and thyme crumb.

Higgidy is also making a significantly upweighted media investment across October and November with the return of its successful ‘Dig Into a Higgidy’ campaign. This includes an outdoor national poster campaign across 48 and 6 sheets, digital display, social media campaign and brand activation in grocery across the UK.

High-impact content creation in partnership with Judi Love also returns for a second year, and will see the celebrity team up with Higgidy’s culinary chef, Jordan Kerridge, to explore the new Autumn pie range and create a new Caribbean-themed spicy pie recipe.

“I loved working with Higgidy last year and am thrilled to be back in the Higgidy kitchen with the team,” commented Love. “Higgidy have made some great changes to their pie recipes. They always make delicious quality food and it’s always fun working with them.”
