Walkers Shortbread has been granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment from The Queen for the supply of shortbread to the Royal Household.
The Royal Warrant of Appointment has been issued for centuries to those who supply goods or services to a royal court or certain royal personages.
Walkers will supply a number of its shortbread ranges to Her Majesty The Queen, including its Pure Butter Shortbread Finger and Highlander Shortbread.
The shortbread company has become a popular firm among the Royals after being crowned the winner of the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement on four separate occasions.
Jim Walker, joint managing director of Walkers Shortbread, said the company was delighted and honoured.
“We receive this accolade with great pride and gracious gratitude that our traditional values and products have been recognised by the British monarchy,” said Walker.
The business has been used in the Royal Household for several years, following the granting of the Royal Warrant by the Queen and the Queen Mother in 2002 for its Scottish oatcakes.
In April 2016, Walkers Shortbread launched a commemorative biscuit tin to celebrate Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.
