Bread Ahead is to open its largest-ever site, which will include a 220-cover restaurant, deli, baking school and wholesale bakery.
Due to open in the autumn, the 11,000 sq ft site will be located on Wembley’s Olympia Way, close to Wembley National Stadium.
Following the success of the firm’s baking workshops at London’s Borough Market, the new site will have two glass-fronted classrooms on a mezzanine floor overlooking the restaurant, which is designed to give customers below an insight into the artisan baking workshops. The site will also offer teaching in the bakery downstairs.
The 220-cover restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with products including warm ham and cheese croissants, sourdough pizza and a selection of grab-and-go items such as deep-filled focaccia sandwiches.
“I’m excited to be going back to my roots,” said Bread Ahead founder Matthew Jones. “I started my career as a chef in restaurants and now I have the opportunity to combine both bakery and restaurant all under one roof and on a grand scale”.
Bread Ahead launched in September 2013, supplying fresh produce daily to Borough Market customers and local restaurants and delis. It opened a bakery school in February 2014 and has since expanded with a second bakery and school in Pavilion Road, Chelsea, and a bakery/café in Beak Street, Soho.
