Bakery manufacturers are preparing for the World Cup to kick off with a host of footie-themed NPD.

Premier Foods is adding two limited-edition treats to its Cadbury Cakes range, while Aryzta Food Solutions has added to its Otis portfolio.

The Premier NPD consists of Cadbury Football Cakes, a pack of four individual cakes with an rsp of £2, and the Cadbury Football Gateau, which serves eight and has an rsp of £3. Both consist of chocolate sponge, chocolate crème and are topped with Cadbury shavings and a sugarpaste football.

“Cadbury Cakes is famed for its seasonal products, which really help to drive category sales,” said Carolyn Longcroft, senior brand manager for Cadbury Cakes at Premier Foods.

“We wanted to make sure we were giving retailers the chance to replicate this success over the summer period, particularly as the upcoming football tournament will give sports fans even more reason to get together. We’re confident that we’re kicking off the season the right way and theming some of our popular cakes will help drive engagement and sales.”

Aryzta, meanwhile, has introduced a limited-edition Otis football chocolate muffin. The 100g chocolate chip muffin, with a chocolate-style filling, is topped with green coloured icing and a football decoration. They come with a football-themed wrap.

They have an rsp of £1.49 per muffin or £2 for two, and are supplied frozen in cases of 30 to be thawed before serving.
