Gail’s Bakery is gearing up to open its 49th store this month.
The North Road, Brighton-based premises is due to start trading on 28 February. It will serve Gail’s signature French dark sourdough, baguettes, rye breads and fruit loaves, alongside soup, salads and cakes as well as a breakfast menu until 3pm each day.
Sandwiches including Roasted Vegetables & Green Tahini on Sourdough Ciabatta (rsp: £4.20), Turkey & Cheese on Malted Wholegrain (rsp: £5) and Ham & Cheese on French Dark Sourdough (rsp: £4.50), will be sold, while Chocolate Sourdough (rsp: £3.80) and a Chocolate Loaf Cake (rsp: £7.95) will make an appearance on its Easter menu.
Gail’s said local artists and carpenters helped work on the bakery, which features reclaimed floor tiles, large tables made from recycled timbers, locally sourced chairs and a bespoke wall hanging featuring a design of the Brighton Viaduct.
Elsewhere, Gail’s has collaborated with Kew Gardens for the fourth year running as part of its annual orchid festival, which celebrates the biodiversity of Colombia through colour.
A cookie made with single-origin Tumaco dark chocolate (pictured) is on sale at selected central and greater London-based bakery outlets where customers can also pick up a postcard offering an exclusive 20% discount on orchid tickets.
The Kew Gardens exhibition runs until 10 March in the Princess of Wales Conservatory.
